The 1995 issue year is commonly referred to as the 10^th year of issue in the series. Surprisingly, the 10th-anniversary celebration didn’t help push demand for Proof Gold Eagles higher in 1995. Only the 1/2 oz coin saw its mintage increase, while these 1 oz gold coins were down a modest 306 coins in overall mintage.

The obverse of the 1995 1 oz Proof American Gold Eagle coin features the image of Liberty. Created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, this design depicts Liberty as she walks away from Washington DC, where the US Capitol Building is visible in the background at her feet.

On the reverse of 1995 Proof American Gold Eagle coins is the depiction of a family of American bald eagles. In this design from Miley Busiek, you’ll find a male eagle flying over the nest as a female guards a hatchling under her wing.
