These coins mark the first time Liberty and Britannia have appeared on the same coin, with US Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna creating the Liberty visual and Royal Mint Chief Engraver Gordon Summers creating the Britannia image.

The obverse of the 2024-W Proof Liberty & Britannia Gold Coin features a depiction of the two allegorical figures of America and Britain. Both figures appear in right-profile relief, when viewed in the upright position of either, with Liberty boasting stars in her hair and a torch in one hand. Britannia wears her iconic Corinthian helmet with a trident in her hand.

On the reverse of 2024-W 1 oz Proof Liberty & Britannia Gold Coins, you will find a design from Joseph Menna that is unique to the US Mint coins issued in this series. Here, the sun rises over the Atlantic Ocean with a Bristlecone Pine on the left coast representing America and an English Yew representing Britain on the right coast.
